On a rainy mid-morning, April 19, 2011 on the campus of Messiah College, five business professionals gathered for a very unique forum sponsored by Messiah and CBMC. They were recruited to be panelists for two sections of the capstone class for business seniors. Professor Mike Zigarelli was our front man inside Messiah College putting the logistics together and setting the stage for the discussion. Foremost on the minds of the students was “How do I get a job in this environment”?
Our goal was to dig deeper. Getting a job is certainly the important first step coming out of college (got to pay those loans off). Our purpose for assembling the panel was to address life after being hired. The attending seniors were asked to think about ethics, integrity, life balance issues (marriage and kids), the worth of the individual, both in the office and the client’s office. Jim Gante, John Simkins, Deb Pierson, Kathy Anderson-Martin and Steve Thurston provided thought provoking discussion and feedback to the students and their questions.
How about you? Whether you are entering the job market or are working a long time in your profession…..have you figured out how faith and business work together? If not, join the conversation….give us a call.

More and more I take comfort in knowing that like principled people are out there willing to share their faith. It takes simple acts of witness or outward expressions of faith. I have a cross pin that I wear most always when wearing a suit coat. I am continuallyimpressed at the number of people who ask about it and who will share their commitment to Christ due to my simply wearing this cross.
Under the influence of Chip Crumine, a group of us in York recently started the Christian Business Network of York (CBNY) which is to gather Christians for the purpose of getting familiar with each other, referring business connections, sharing, fellowship, and promoting faith in the workplace.
